Problem with building an SPSS file

I have a large SPSS data file with over 800 000 records (virsion
17). Each record represents children's visits to local clinic for last
3 years (so the same child can appear in different records different
number of times - can be identified by ID number). I need to re-build
the file so each record will represent a child (and not a visit) and
all his visits will be represented as variables. How can I do this?

Look up the CASESTOVARS command. You could also look at the tutorial
on UCLA's SPSS data management page.
