Effect size measure for Pearson Chi-square

Hi all,
Besides Cramer-V for 2x2 contingency tables, is there a formula for
measuring the effect size of Pearson Chi-square value ?
I've been grinding thru the Net and stats textbooks but it seems there
is nothing on that subject.
It puzzles me to say the least.
Can anyone help me on this one ?
