There seems to be a lot of problems with the Macintosh version of SPPS
11.0. I bought the sofware and had to return it three times, since my
puter would just spit their disk as if they were unreadable. Sick and
tired, I finally returned the product. A friend of mine was more lucky
with his purchase, and he tries to help me with my stats.

Now, there seems to be a bug... SPSS just crashes everytime we ask for
a graph! The other functions are fairly stable (when not too
demanding), but can't get any graph.

Anyone else has encountered that problem? Could it be that the
software is incompatible with OS 10.2.4? So far the SPSS guys have not
been very helpful, so if any of you have a suggestion, that would be
GREATLY appreciated.

Hi,

I have encountered this problem too, under 10.2.3, trying to draw even
the simplest graphs crashes the program. The product is very unstable
and slow, and it is not a problem with your mac I suspect. SPSS 11 is
not even worthy of being called a beta version: the installer installs
over 11,000 files (!) and if you open "tops" inside the macintosh
terminal program, you wouldn't believe the amount of memory and cpu
time the application takes, even in the background when not doing
something. Bad programming. I suggest you use an earlier mac or a
recent windows version.

I agree witht the comment below in this thread - SPSS 11 for OS X is
woeful. It is agonisingly slow (sometimes 10 times slower than version
10 for OS 9), full of bugs and user interface inconsistencies. I can't
believe such as poor package could have been released.

As a clue to its problems, do a 'show contents' on the SPSS package
and search for files with a '.dll' extension and you will find 875 of
them! Is this just the Windows version running under an interpreter??
