Matlab for Design Optimization

Hi to everybody. I am mechanical engineering student and willing to
apply Matlab for Reliability based design optimization (RBDO). IS IT
POSSIBLE?. Anybody having experience in that? Plz advice and help me
how to interface CAE analysis to matlab and which CAE s/w (Ansys,
Nastran, Abaqus) can be interfaced EASILY. Thanks Alot in Advance

When optimizing expensive external models CGO is the fastest way to
go about it - surrogate models are built and very few model calls are
made.

Dear Gondal,

I am doing active research on RBDO by using ANSYS and MATLAB based
programs. Therefore I think I can help you but you need to give more
specific infomation on which program you use for carrying out
reliability analysis. do you use MATLAB based program such as FERUM
to carry out reliability analysis? If so, you need to call ANSYS for
each performance function evaluation, which requires that you need to
use ANSYS APDL and call ANSYS in batchmode.
Therefore, if you send me more information on which programs (for
reliability analysis and optimization)you use I will try to help you.
