Hi,
I want to import a .lif file generated by Leica microscopy software into MATLAB. These .lif files somethimes comprise more than 100 images. Therefore the best solution would be if I somehow could read in the meta data of the image file and then decide which images I want to load into the software as a matrix in order to not run out of memory.

the best imported I have found is the LOCI suite. The import jode is open-source java, and they have written a working matlab wrapper.

open the linked m-file at the loci website for examples of how to use the bfopen() function.
