ADODB.connection error

Hi there,
I'm trying to use some scripts for opening a connection to a PI server database. It invokes the ADODB.connection however, it throws up an error as if it is not installed. Has anyone had a similar experience?
The file ADO270.CHM is not in my windows directory, so not sure if I need to install MDAC components.
??? Invoke Error, Dispatch Exception:
Source: ADODB.Connection
Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.
