When I start a DOS session using an image file (more on this
below) and try to run matlab I get the following message
The 386 chip is currently executing in virtual 8086 mode
under the control of another program. You must turn off
this other program in order to use 386|DOS-Extender
to run in protected mode.
I'm not really sure what background information is relevant
(I'm a new OS/2 user), so here's a description of the system
etc.

I've set up an image file of a DOS startup disk using VMDISK.
The config.sys for the corresponding DOS startup disk is:
DEVICE=FSFILTER.SYS
DEVICE=f:\OS2\MDOS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=f:\OS2\MDOS\EMM386.SYS
DEVICE=f:\OS2\MDOS\ANSI.SYS
buffers=30,0
files=40
dos=umb
fcbs=4,0
dos=high
stacks=9,256
device=c:\dos\setver.exe
shell=c:\dos\command.com c:\dos\ /e:4096 /p
break=on
The autoexec.bat is
f:\OS2\MDOS\MOUSE
@echo off
path=c:\;c:\dos;d:\matlab
prompt $p$g
set comspec = c:\dos\command.com
set temp=c:\dos
c:\dos\doskey
rem copy c:\dos\command.com c:\ >NUL

I've tried fiddling with the settings for the DOS session (page
two of the settings for the object linked to the image, but no
luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Arnold
You'll need to contact the MathWorks Technical Support department and
as to have them send you the latest version of 386-MATLAB. This should
solve the problem.
