I'm trying to read a vrml 2.0 file (*.wrl) into matlab, and display
it in a malab figure using the 'patch' command.
Does anyone know of a function that can do that ?
(the 'read_vrml.m' function reads only a vrml 1.0 file).
Does anyone know of a program that converts a vrml 2.0 file into a
vrml 1.0 file ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks
Oren
I've searched for the function 'Patchvrml' in the 'www.mathworks.com'
site, and in 'www.yahoo.com' site and found nothing.
Can you please send me the '*.m' file for this function, or tell me
where i can find it ?
Thanks
Oren
The function patchvrml is not the part of the Virtual Reality Toolbox.
You can find a code that perhaps does what you need at Matthew Cairns' page:
http://www.dcs.gla.ac.uk/~mc/1stYearReport/4.3_MatlabCode.htm
Virtual Reality Toolbox allows you to manipulate objects from MATLAB /
Simulink directly in the virtual scene. Maybe this will allow you to do
what you need in a more elegant way than importing VR objects into
MATLAB patches.

Thanks for the info. I've learned agreat deal from the link you sent
me.
The patchvrml file is not suitable for reading any VRML 2.0 file (it
doesn't support TRANSFORM etc.) but it's a start…

have you already solved your problem of reading and displaying a file
vrml 2.0. If you already have, please explain me how to proceed.
Thanks in advance.
I haven't solved the problem yet, but If I do get successfull, I'll
be sure to let you know.

Oren from some reason needed to import arbitrary VRML model into MATLAB
patches, which is quite complex task.
For displaying *and also manipulating* objects that are available in
VRML2, there is Virtual Reality Toolbox. Most probably it offers all the
functionality you need, without necessity to solve the above problem.
