I am trying to install matlab on fedora and I am getting the following error:

/tmp/update/bin/glnx86/xsetup: error while loading shared libraries: libXmu.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I was initially getting this error with libXp.so.6 but I downloaded the library as suggested in:
http://www.mathworks.com/support/solutions/en/data/1-12E9FJ/

and now I am getting this similar error. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I found no help for this on this site or anywhere else on the web. But I searched packages.debian.org for the file, found that the ia32-libs package had it, and installed it.

So it looks like it was an issue of needing 32bit libs for a 64bit machine. I wonder why Mathworks didn't think of putting this in their installation documentation...

Hope this helps others!
