I accidently undocked a file from the Matlab editor, and then docked it back, but now, the look of main Matlab window has changed. Now, I get Current Directory, Workspace, Command History and Command Window as diffrerent tabs. How can I restore the default look, i.e. Current Directory and Workspace on the left side, Command History below it, and Command Window on the right side.

Form the main MATLAB window pulldown menus:

Desktop->Desktop Layout->Default

Another piece of advice: once you come up with your favourite layout, save it (using the same menu). You will then be able to load it afterwards.

from the Home Tab
-you'll see Layout
-press on it and then "default"

Hi,

Is it possible to save my preferred layout as default layout so that every time I open MATLAB it opens with my preferred layout and I don't have to load it every time I open a new MATLAB session? I think this was possible in versions of MATLAB but it seems to not work in MATLAB 2015a.

Thanks!
Ashish

Anyone succeeded in restoring the default location of the editor in its Undocked Mode (Should be in the top left corner).
I tried resetting the layout, it only affects the Main Window location.

Thank You.

Hi Royi,

I too had the same problem, what you need to do is click the editor actions button at the top right of the editor window (it looks like a circle with a downwards triangle inside). Once there, click "Dock editor". (This can also be done by pressing control, shift and the D key at the same time)

Hope this helps,

Alex
