Hello:

Is it possible to buy a new copy of Mathematica 5.2 and run it on a
Netbook:

Acer Single Atom processor, 1 GB Memory, 160GB HD. I am not going to
be doing any serious number crunching.

I have been searching all over the internet, but don't find any older
versions of Mathematica for sale.

TIA,

Jess P

You can run the latest version 7.1 on a netbook as well.
For example on a Toshiba NB205 which uses Atom N280 at 1.66Ghz you get
a benchmark of 0.31.
Not bad considering that it is a cute little - pink - PC with 9 hours
battery life that you can buy for (very) few hundreds bucks :-)

For most people that have upgraded from 5.2 to higher versions I think
it may be illegal to sell their older version.

V7 runs OK on a netbook and a home edition can be gotten for $295,
which I feel is a fine deal.

Thanks Sjoard, I talked with someone at Wolfram yesterday and I am
getting Mathematica for my netbook.

Will download it this SAT or Sunday at the latest.

Jess
