Hello,

I would like to test how Uniface works in mobile, I downloaded MS mobile device emulator and following Uniface help library (chapter - Testing Mobile Applications Using the Windows CE Device Emulator). I need install Uniface on the Device Emulator. Manual says Copy the Uniface.ce2 file from the Uniface distribution to the directory used as the emulator's storage device...But I am unable to find Uniface.ce2 ...

Hi David,

do you had a look at the installation CD, normally uniface delivers
other plattforms on a separate directory.
Or maybe you can look at the FTP-Server where Patches are publiced.

Best regards
Thomas

Hello,

on installation CD I didnt find any needed files Uniface.ce2 and Ce2_Setup...

Where I find FTP-Server for patches and updates? Or could someone send mi these two files via e-mail?

Thanks
David

You probably already solved this problem, since your post is two weeks old,
but just in case you didn't:

The file to upload to the emulator is called Uniface.ce2.cab and is on the
9.3.01/9.3.02 installation CD of Uniface for Windows.
Uploading to the emulator is done easiest by defining a directory to the
emulator to serve as a memory card (File menu), and copy the cab file to
that directory. On the emulator you start Explorer and go to \Storage Card.
Scroll down till you see Uniface.ce2 (without .cab; Explorer doesn't show
extensions), and tap on it to start the installation.

Alternatively, if you insert the CD in your drive, the screen that pops up
also has a link that enables you to install Uniface on a Mobile device,
including the emulator. This option does require you to cradle your emulator
so that ActiveSync can be used to upload the cab file automatically. This
cradling you do with the Device Emulator Manager, which was installed
together with the emulator: start it and right-click the emulator in the
list that has the green error in front of it, and chose 'cradle'; ActiveSync
will start up. Then you insert the Uniface installation CD and clck on the
link that says 'Install Uniface Mobile'; this will take you through a few
screens and you should see the installation start on the emulator screen.

After installing Uniface on the emulator you will also need to install the
DLM license managment software for Mobile; this is not the same as DLM for
Windows; there is a separate setup.exe on the Uniface 9.3.01 Windows CD that
installs the DLM for Mobile app on your Windows workstation. This
application requires that you cradle your emulator as described above in
order for it to install both DLM and your valid license features on the
emulator in one go. Obviously, you will need to have valid license features
before you can do this.

Hope this helps,

Etienne
