I think it's because the mailing lists are not managed via yahoo - I
think they are just gateway'd through yahoo. However, I have nothing
to do with the mailing lists - I'm just as much of a "user" as anyone!

Please see
http://www.cs.wustl.edu/~schmidt/TAO-mail.html
for instructions on how to subscribe/post dependably. Since your
postings are showing up now, however, you must have gotten things to
work.
Thanks,
Doug

In addition to what Doug said, you may want to use Google Groups. I
tried to use Yahoo Groups initially but it gave me headaches. I don't
have any trouble with Google Groups.

That's because Google Groups quietly and efficiently posts you to
USENET (NNTP), where nothing reflects you back to the _real_ mailing
list.
Guys, the _only_ way to get to the list is via e-mail to
tao-...@cse.wustl.edu . Just because Google doesn't bounce a message
doesn't mean it's getting through.

Ok, so I will dutifully try (for the third time) to subscribe to the
official email list. You know what they say, the third time's a charm.
