The Franke Institute for the Humanities of the University of Chicago
invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship which will
run from mid-September to mid-June 1999-2000 as part of the Sawyer
Seminar on “Computer Science as a Human Science: The Cultural Impact of
Computerization.” The successful applicant will be expected to
participate actively in the Seminar and present a paper at one of the
three conferences held throughout the academic year. The stipend is
$32,000. All applicants are expected to have received the Ph.D. degree
within the past five years and no later than 1 September 1999. To apply
please submit a c.v.; a chapter-length piece of work; statement (1-3
double-spaced pages) about your research and one or more of the
Seminar’s themes; and have 3 letters of recommendation sent. The
application deadline is 15 FEBRUARY 1999.
