We are an MVS shop using ACF2 for security of datasets, etc., within MVS and we want to be able to use ACF2 for most security
administration on the mainframe.

If you are using DB2 , could I hear from you on the following questions?

Are you using ACF2 or other products to replace/enhance DB2 security administration?

If so, how satisfied are you with what you're using and what, if any, are the problems you've had?

If you're not using ACF2, how are you logging security violation?

Also, I'd really be interested in hearing from ACF2 users on whether it works as advertised by CA or not.

Thank you for your interest,

Doesn't anyone use ACF2/DB2 out there? I've had just one response so far.

Please help us, we're really up against the wall here.

We are using ACF2 to enhance DB2 security.

It works pretty well; even though the company I work for is using a
no-longer-supported release (ACF2 5.1). We do turnovers using Endevor
(also a CA product); one of the DB2 DBAs can move elements all the way into
production ('borrowing' DB2's ACF2 security), even though his ACF2 ID
doesn't have the 'juice' to do it.

It stops undesired access, cold (as long as the dataset rules are written
correctly (duh :) ).

Sharon: I use acf2 for an mvs shop ,however , i do not have db2 in place
I am a member of the local user group and if i can find there home
page i will forward your question. Your New York User group should
also have some info available to you. Or call your sales rep, and have
them tell you who the liaison is between user groups and CA.

As for ACF2 ..... yes it will stop people dead...wether or not you want
it to!

Tech support is a little weak.... Speak with Cassie or Chaunti Mack or
Terry Stafford for some good info.

I hope this has helped
Dennis
