author search on her name. She has written many pieces on encryption and
is very well known in the community.

If price _were_ an issue, HPACK (available from ftp.funet.fi either as
a crypt program or a compression one) free non-commercially, $20
commercial use registration, or RIPEM would probably be choices to
consider.

There are, however, numerous commercial encryption products; some are
marketed as general computer programs, from anti-virus software
companies like McAfee, and others are offered by companies that
specialize in encryption, such as RSA Data Security Inc., Cylink, and
so on.

international version. There is a North American version available for
purchase which is more powerful. I use it as well as pgp as it has some
great features such as self-extracting encrypted files. The encryption
method used is blowfish. It is worth looking at. cost is $59.95

encrypted files.... at least as far as I know.

How would it do that? There is no option to create self-extracting
encrypted files. You can of course encrypt compressed files, but
that's an entirely different thing.
