Can anyone tell me how to go about removing a known host key from Putty?
Once I accept a key from a host am I stuck with it forever? Or do I have
to grope around in the registry to get rid of it?

The latter (currently). Look under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY\SshHostKeys.

You can completely clear out _all_ host keys, settings, etc with
"putty -cleanup".
