I'm hoping you could guide me with this error I am receving. I am brand new
to PGP, but hve digged into the net and found out about it, how to install
it etc. I am getting an error and I could use some input on what is going
on. I can't seem to find the error anywhere on the net or in the PGP
troublehooting/error section.
I am using PGP v6.5.3 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000 on a Windows 98 machine,
using Outlook 98 for mail.
When I sen a message to myself, I can encrypt it fine. When I get it back in
my inbox, I open the mail message so it is in it's own window, not
integrated into the Outlook 98 panes. I click once in the body of the
message, go down to the PGP tray and choose "Current Window->Decrypt and
Verify". Then I get this error:
"An error has occured: bad packet"
I hit OK, then another comes up:
"Found no PGP information in the clipboard"
The message is not decrypted, it just stops at the above point. Does anyone
know what I might be doing wrong or what the problem might be?
Thanks for any help!

In PGP v6.5.3 you can open up the options and setup the Hotkey's.
Setup F2
for Sign, F3 Encrypty and Sign, and so on. Then when you get a msg or
anything with a PGP signature or key then just click on that window
with the
information and hit the HotKey for Decrypt and Verify and then you
should be
all set. I've had that problem in the past with Eudora and the
HotKey's
solved my problem right away.

I got an answer to this problem from the PGP User's Group. I thought I would
post the answer here unless anyone was having the same problems. It appears
that the text line wrap I had set in Outlook 98 was causing the keys and
message to become undecryptable.
What finally solved my problem was setting the line wrap to a higher number
than 65. In my Outlook, there was no way to turn line wraping off, but I set
the number by going to:
Tools->Options
Click the Mail Format Tab
Make sure your Message Format is Plain Text
Then click the "Settings" button
You should see an "Automatically wrap at --- characters when sending" with a
drop down box.
Type a number 65 or over and hit okay until all the dialogs go away.
That will solve this error problem.
Thanks to all who sent messages to me on list and off :)
BTW, if you want to join the PGP Users group, head over to
