The router seems to be devective from what I have read here. Take the
router back and get a replacement. The pop them out like pop corn and you
can get a defective one just like with anything else.
Duane :)
I have the bundled setup BEFSR41v2 with ZAP 4.0.146.029, and a LNE100TX
adapter on both computers, running Win98SE and XP.
It took me months to get it all figured out.
I did purchase a two license key for 2 users, because I found a statement
from LINKSYS that stated without a proper license key the connection would
not always be reliable, especially networking more than one computer.
I experienced the same problems as you are having now.
I learned through trial and error, because I could never find the answers to
hardly any of my questions, like:
1.Router Name: where you enter the name of the computer that was originally
used to set up your cable modem and router. The computer name can change and
it won't make any difference in connecting thru the router. It's called the
HostName.(Default will work or your ISP username (Host) I recommend for
setting up the router the first time.
2.Domain Name: is your ISP,....."se1.client2.attbi.com"........your cable
modem is going to be your original WAN IP, and recorded MAC and serial #
with your ISP. I installed my modem with the drivers (CD) that came with the
RoadRunner Package. My cable modem shows up in Device Manager and in Network
Properties as a networking device.....it's not really a driver but a
registry key setting........which makes my router provide the WAN IP of my
cable modem as the "Internet Zone."
My "Trusted Zone" in ZAP is the routers LAN IP Address
192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 subnet.....I noticed you had yours set as the
"Internet Zone."..........it took me forever to solve that riddle........the
default gateway is 192.168.1.1......which is the DHCP Server or router
address.
The Default Gateway of my WAN or cable modem is 24.99.33.1 or DHCP Server
without the router. I tried MAC Cloning of the NICs but with RR and
attbi.com it made NO difference in being able to establish a concrete
connection. So I let the router give it's own MACs.
Here's what drove me crazy. What to use as the Router Username and Password
after resetting the router to "Factory Settings" in setup. You use your ISP
username and password and that was the trick that did it for me.
Last cure when you can't connect no matter what is to go to the "Internet
Logs" folder in Windows and delete everything, like TVdebug and all the
ZAlogs and Tmp files.
That is the only way to clear and clean all the Internet Components out of
the ZAP programs that load at startup with all the different Internet
applications.......it gives you a clean slate or brand new fresh start,
because duplicates of components pile up when updating NAV and other Windows
Internet Programs and sooner or later your Internet Connection won't budge.
Enough for now!.............Gawderho
