My favorite for that project would be the PMAC.

Actually the PMAC is manufactured by Delta Tau Data Systems in
Conoga Park, California USA (818)998-2095. The PMAC (Programmable
Multiple Axis Controller) uses the Moto 56000 DSP.

I use the board in industrial motion systems -- can I be of any
