comp.research.japan will be removed

The Last Call for Comments (LCC) on 09 Jun 2007 initiated a five-day
period for final comments. Following the comment period, the Big-8
Management Board has decided by consensus to remove the newsgroup
comp.research.japan.

This group will be removed on 20 Jun 2007.

RATIONALE: remove comp.research.japan

The last approved article was in April 2000. The newsgrooup was run
by the JapanCS project in the Department of Computer Science at The
University of Arizona. The JapanCS Project effectively ended in May
2000.

In response to an e-mail query, the last moderator wrote, "No reason
to keep the newsgroup as far as I can see. It served its purpose well
in its day, but as you note, most of the material we used to post is
online these days."

HISTORY:

The newsgroup comp.research.japan was created in December 1990, and
was active until April 2000, averaging roughly one article per day.
