It depends on what you are looking for in an 'editor'. Since PostScript
is plain ASCII, any word processor will do the job of editing the file.
If you are wanting to edit artwork, then Adobe Illustrator, Freehand,
CorelDraw, Studio, and others will do the job if the files are in .EPS
format. If they're not, a conversion utility such as Transverter Pro
will make them so, most of the time.

Illustrator only handles a very limited subset of EPS files,
not all of them. CorelDraw 5.0 on the other hand has a built
in converter similar to Transverter Pro.

Illustrator 5.5 on e Mac allows you to edit arbitrary PostScript files
by importing them through the Acrobat Distiller (included). I assume
the next Windows version, when and if it ever shows up, will provide
this capability also.

Try Ghostscript and Ghostview for Windows from Aladdin and Gnu
respectively. They are free via http://spectrum.ece.jhu.edu/shrindex.htm,
and other ftp sites like cica. You should have the latest version of
win32s installed and use the 32-bit version of these apps. Ghostscript is
the interpreter and GHostview is the graphical viewer for ghostscript.

Features include viewing of postscript files and coversion to EPS,
printing and editing. All for FREE!

I use Ghostscript on occasion, but I still get an error message when I try to
load some *.ps files. Does anybody know what causes this error; "Exit Code 1"?
Thanks.....
