I'm using ghostscript and I would like to install the adobe postscript
printer with the Agfa Apogee PPD. When I downloaded the Agfa PPD's
from Adobe's site it unzipped about 65 Agfa PPD's but apogee is not
included. I also could not find an apogee PPD at Afga's site.

Any idea on how I can get this PPD?

Thanks,

Rich

I thought I could put it on my server for you to download, as it seams I
have done something wrong, I mailed it to you.
But - I am on a mac - your printer could mail you his.

I checked out the site and noticed it is a "sit" file. What is a sit
file? I probably don't need to tell you that I'm a newbie at this!

Thanks again,

A "Stuffit" compressed archive. You will need "Stuffit expander" to
"unstuff" it. Most Macs have Stuffit. If your's hasn't go here:

I looked everywhere and do not have it.
Is there some particular reason
you like to use that PPD?

I use Publisher 2002 and I'm trying to find a PPD which will produce
good results. Based on the recommendations of others in several
newsgroups, the Apogee PPD was highly recommended. I have since
downloaded 3 different versions and they all produce excellent quality
prn files which I view with ghostview, but they are all very high
resolution (big files) and the orientation is always sideways and
ghostview can't change it for some reason.

Do you have any PPD recommendations?

Thanks for the PPD. I tried it and unfortunately I get the same
results as the two other apogee PPD's, i.e., very high resolution (big
files) and a sideways orientation when I view it in ghostview or the
generated PDF file. The other PPD's I've tried did not cause this
strange behavior, although they did not reproduce the Publisher 2002
color and fonts as well as the apogee PPD.

Am I doing something wrong?

I use the Distiller PPD a lot
(I think it is a good one to become
comfortable with -
since Distiller is going to be THE file creator.
--
But the one I use almost exclusively is
one writen by Scenic Soft (Preps folks)
It seems to do everything -
any orientation
any size
any colors.

The Apogee PPD is possibly built for that device
so thet orientation may just be built in.
You could go in and change the description to what you need.
I found it easier just to find a more versatile PPD.

I prefer using the MS Imagesetter driver that is installed with Publisher.
It just seems to work better than most of the otehrs, perhaps because it is
more generic and Publisher relies the GDI and generic PS more than other
apps with their own PS engines.

Pub2002 doesn't install the MS drivers any more. I just checked the disk and
can't find them anywhere. You'd have to pull them from a Pub2000 disk.

The Microsoft PPDs are on your hard drive if you have installed Publisher!
You need to Add a printer and Browse to Program files\Microsoft
Office\Office\ and you will see mspub.inf. Open it and add the printer
driver. We find the color printer seems to be fine in most PDF generation
apps. Note that the last folder might be Office10 on some newer systems

If you really want compatibility with an APogee system at a remote site, you
should buy Apogee Create
