Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5c Problem

Hi,
 
I have Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5c (with latest updates applied) running with a Memorex CRW-1622 drive.
 
However, as soon as I open the CDRW drive and insert a new blank disk, Easy Cd Creator freezes.  If a blank disk is already in the drive when I start Easy Cd Creator, the program will freeze on the opening screen (or won't start at all).  The problem only occurs as soon as I put a new blank disk in the drive.  I have tried several different blank disks, but all of them produce the same problem.
 
Any ideas?

Try verifying your ASPI layer with ASPICHK. Then reinstall ECDC 3.5c.
Something may have fouled your ASPI layer.

Hi Mike,

According to ASPICHK, the layer is fine. I'm several versions up from the recommended version.

Also, this problem occurs with ECDC 4.0, as well as 3.5c. I could insert a blank CDR in the drive and be fine, but as soon as
I start ECDC, the hard drive light comes on (and remains lit) and the system slowly comes to a halt.

Do you have DirectCD or PacketCD installed?

If so, does the problem get any better when those are uninstalled?

If aspicheck reports everything ok and ie runs, there could not be a
problem. try reinstalling windows or something

Hi Andy,

No, neither DirectCD nor packetCD are installed.

I solved the problem by uninstalling ECDC and installing Nero. :-)
