Get a copy of KA9Q (ucsd.edu:hamradio/packet/tcpip/ka9q/rcsdsrc.zip
Also get rcs: ucsd.edu:hamradio/packet/tcpip/ka9q/rcs56b.zip).
Install it along with yr. fav. packet driver.
Start a long FTP session. Go back to the command prompt with F10.
Find the TCP session block for port 20 using "tcp s". Then watch
that block using "repeat tcp s xxxxxxxx", where xxxxxxxx is the value
you found from the previous command. Observe the bottom line. Now
unplug your machine from the Ethernet and watch the timers increase
as it retries. Then plug it back in and watch them decrease as TCP
re-learns that you have a working, timely connection again.
This works best on a slow transfer. It's not so instructive if
you're getting 100Kb/sec.
