I ran a port scan on my computer the other day and a connection to port
2868/tcp was etablished. This port is used by a service called NPEP
Messaging. I've got no idea about what this is.

I am having the exact same issue. I never thaught that there were going to be so less answers. Even iv you just google for 'npep-messaging' you don't get an answer.
