Checkout iReasoning. I think it's ireasoning.com.

Where did you find a "visual MIB builder" at iReasoning? I could
find somethin like that on their site.

I am not aware of any free visual MIB design software. If you do
not want to spend any additonal money, I would recommend to
use a text editor and use one of the free MIB validation services
available. One of them is mine at:
http://www.mibdesigner.com/html/mib_validation.html

On that site you will also find a MIB Designer for which free
evaluation licenses are available. If you want to create a professional
MIB, a visual MIB design tool will save you many hours and if
your hourly rate is >10$ the investment will most likely pay off.

Hope this helps anyway.

Hello all,

Thank you very much for your suggestions.Actually we have a mib
compiler provided with VxWorks Tornado tools. We need a visual mib
builder through which we can build MIBS graphically instead of writing
the code for it.
This will save us lot of time and decreases employees
redundancy.MgSoft has a Visual MIB Builder but shows code only for
couple of leaves in evaluation version.

If anybody knows a free or shareware mib builder.please let us know.

In the worst case,we have to employ a person who writes this for us.

Once again,thank you very much

ASN.1 isn't hard to learn. and the visual mib builder doesn't help you
defining the mib structure. that's the real hard part (btw. there's a
good book about this by david perkins). so franks advice to take a text
editor is really a good one - after a few days your faster with the text
editor than you can click your objects together with a visual builder.

Please be check carefully whether a MIB compiler bundled with an agent
development tool is really well suited to check MIB modules for correctness.
There are a lot of MIB compilers in that area which are rather error
forgiving.

To avoid interoperability problems when your customers want to use your
product, i.e. your MIB module(s), then you should test your MIB module
with a MIB compiler than is designed for checking MIB modules for
correctness.
BTW, the evaluation version of MIB Designer (http://www.mibdesigner.com)
is not functional restricted.

While you writing that you expect significant savings by using a visual
MIB design
tool, I wonder why you are not willing to pay for such a tool? As far as
I know,
most shareware licenses require to purchase a full license when the
corresponding
software is used for revenue generating projects.

MIB design is a critical part of building a SNMP solution. I strongly
recommend
to focus your efforts on good MIB design, because it will be hard if not
impossible
to work-around design flaws during implementation of the SNMP agent.

I believe that obtaining a license for MG-SOFT's Visual MIB Builder
will certainly be quite cheaper solution than hiring a new employee,
who would manually perform mib design tasks for your company.

Best regards,
