Hi!

I mount some samba shares (Samba 2.0.4 SSL) which are located somewhere in
the internet via smbclient (2.0.6) and sslproxy. The connections to those
clients are pretty slow. I then share those connections via samba 2.0.6 to
the local network.

The speed is very often a real pain. Does anybody has some ideas how to tweak
this setup. The local server is not the problem nor is the sslproxy (cpu
usage <1%). Maybe some socket options for smbclient? I dont have access to
the servers located in the internet so I can only tweak the smbclient.

Thanks in advance,
Martin Vonwald

To find out where the problems lie, I reccomend
you do a sequence of tests with ftp and smblient,
with and without ssl.

smbclient and ftp both report transfer speeds, which should
be within an order of magnitude (base 2, not 10!), and
ssl should slow each "somewhat", and should affect each equally.

Feel free to send me email: Bob (Eckstein) and I are
interested in SMB-over-SSL.
