I have BIND 8.1.2 installed on a Solaris 2.6 machine. The startup file
for named in /etc/rc2.d looks for the old named.boot file, and if it is
present starts in.named. However, named.boot is "long gone" in version
8. Don't I have to make some change to the file, like looking for
named.conf instead?
I haven't seen this mentioned. Anyone care to comment?

Obviously, yes. Or just leave an unused named.boot file around (the script
doesn't care what's in the file, only that it exists).

The other way is just changing the named.conf in the directory mentioned
above
hope this helps
