All of a sudden over the last couple of days I am getting the
following error message in my DNS BIND V4.9.6 log:

Mar 07 08:00:02 1998 CreateMailSlot for ndc communications failed:
error code = 183

I have never seen this error in my logs before so I'm not sure what
exactly is causing this. What does this error message mean and what
should I do to take care of it? Or is it trivial?

Thanks for assistance.

What exactly do you mean by "my DNS BIND V4.9.6 log" ? This certainly
doesn't look like a message from BIND. At a wild guess, it might be some
software component [SNMP, maybe?] planning to use "ndc". If that's the "ndc"
that comes with BIND, it's the shell script used to send signals to BIND.

Are you running SMB? MailSlots are used by LAN Manager for communications
between network devices.
