I have DVTk installed and am using it to validate incoming dicom
files.
However the provided script doesn't seem to know how to recursively
traverse a directory of dicom images.
i.e. It assumes all the dicom files are in the same directory and that
there are no sub-directories.

nope, I do not have one. Did you try to post your question in the DVTk
