I would like to know if there is a "preferred" viewer for Dicom Image
Objects (sort of a "reference" viewer).
There is too much variability in what the currently available viewers
can handle (or even in the way they show images) that I often find
myself at a loss in getting meaningful comparisons in how certain
images show up in viewers.
I am mostly looking to find out what would be the community's most
reliable viewer... Is it Irfan, is it eZDicom, Osirix, eFilm 153?
Something else?
Of course, I am referring only to open-source/freeware stuff.
Thank you.

I guess this would be the viewer provided with the scanner by the
manufacturer. Isn't it? Besides the viewers you mentioned, you
probably want to try mine. http://www.stdmodel.com
None of them are DICOM viewers per se. The only one implementing
Presentation State is dicomscope from the DCMTK team. This is also the
one recommned during the IHE Connectathon AFAIK.
