As you guessed, it could be a configuration issue at either end, but should be pretty quick to work out and resolve with access to the systems.
Assuming you're in the U.S., you can contact Canon Service ("ASSIST") at
800-521-1968.
(They'll need info to identify your site and system ID, etc.)
