EFF Cries Foul Against Domain Name Registry Bill

In a rather slick way of wording it, I'm surprised that the EFF has actually
taken this stance to further protect individuals or companies from
registering domain names with misleading, and even perhaps criminal, intent.
I, for one, am glad to see the government taking a pro-active role in
deciding within the United States how someone should indeed register a
domain
name.
An alternative to protecting the privacy of individuals is to provide an
"anonymous" flag during domain registration that says, "Ok, here is my
personal information, but I forbid it to be viewed by a publicly initiated
'whois' query."
The EFF is made up of paranoid individuals wanting to control the government
before the government controls us and I honestly don't see the government
controlling me or anyone else anytime soon.
A general example of WHY this law is required would be if an individual
wanted to register www.pedophilesareus.com. Do you think the individual
registering that particular domain name is going to blatantly give out his
personal information at this time simply because of the name of the domain?
I honestly don't see that happening. The law being proposed will prevent
incidents like this from occuring, and like all bills, will have its kinks
to
iron out, but I believe the courts of the United States will have adequate
judgemental capacity to determine what is legal, moral or ethically valid.
I honestly don't see the government controlling it's citizenship in any
extreme except when it is in the best interest of protection; i.e. the
increased security at airports.
Sure, the government screws up occassionaly and does things without thinking
them all the way through, but don't we all?
Let's do away with the EFF because all they do is cry, whine, bitch and
moan.
