Does anyone have any information on where I might be able to find a mouse
made by Dexxa in the 80's. It's a rectangular 2-button serial mouse with
the following information:

Model #: MB-82-9F
Serial #: LT449023618

This mouse does not operate like a normal mouse and can't be replaced by
one. I also heard that there may be a similar model from other companies,
but have been unable to find any information on those.

If anyone has any info on this one, please let me know. Thank you very
much.

If my memory is correct the Dexxa mice were made by Logitech. I con't recall
there being any thing that special about them other than they tended to be
a lower priced product line at that time.

Tom: You are correct. Logitech made them under the Dexxa name, but for
some reason this particular mouse is very different than anything else I've
seen. No ordinary mouse that I've used (including several older and newer
Dexxa/Logitech and Logitech mice) work on this system. This particular
mouse is odd in that it has double optical pickups on each axis of
movement.

I got the following information on the old Dexxa mouse from Logitech. I
don't see anything here that looks as though this mouse is anything
special, but again...no other serial mouse I've tried (from legacy to
newer) has worked. Any ideas?

Dexxa MB-82-9F

Type: Serial Mouse
H/W Compatibility Microsoft
Serial Protocol Mi
Baud Rate 1200
DPI 200
Buttons 2
Device ID SerialM (Windows)

Thank you.

I have several Dexxa serial mice "still in the box" in the trunk of my
old car. Maybe after the snow melts I'll take a look at them, but as I
recall they were pretty ordinary as mice go. I bought them at a
closeout and used them as replacement parts "back when" serial mice were
common.

Did you remove the Dexa mouse drivers and then install new drivers for the
other mice? Some of the older Logitech mice required their own drivers be
installed to work w/o any problems. I can't remember if the Dexa was one of
those mice or not but if you have a special dexa driver loaded it could be
the reason teh other mice are not working. Is the dexa mouse also not
working at all? It's possible you are looking at a port problem rather
than a mouse problem. If is one of the serial mice do you have some toher
serial device you can connect the the prot to test it. Also if it is a
serial mouse can you connect it to a second serial port? OF course if it's
too deep in the port hardware the alternative prot might have problems as
well. Did you try the Dexa mouse on another system to see if it works there?

Good luck,

Tom
