We inserted quite a few Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200
RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drives into an HP MSA 60 enclosure. The
attached HP P600 controller is reporting that the drives are only 1.5 Gbps.
Is the 1.5 Gbps setting a jumper configurable setting on those drives? Is
there a trick to getting the 3.0 Gbps interface?

The same controller attached to some 2.5" SAS drives is definitely reporting
them at 3 Gbps, so the controller is definitely 3 Gbps capable.

why not go to the western digital site and check jumper settings?

I couldn't find the jumper settings on the site, but perhaps I missed
them. Perhaps the original poster (OP) couldn't find it either.

I did find:
http://www.storagereview.com/WD7500AAKS.sr
which points a picture of the top of a drive at:
http://www.storagereview.com/images/WD7500AAKS_top.jpg

I don't understand why the OP couldn't read what
was on the disks.

The picture that I found, which is perhaps a mockup,
seems to indicate:
"Jumpered pins 5 and 6 enables 1.5GB ???"
where "??? represents what I think is "PHY"

I can't read what the factory default jumpering is.
I also am not sure what order the jumpers are numbered
in, but I think that the actual label on a drive would
be clear. (Most of the SEAGATE drives that I have come
factory jumpered for 1.5G bits/second and the are used
with no jumper for 3.0 Gv/second.)

(Jumpering 1 and 2 does something for Spread Spectrum
Clocking. )
(Jumpering 3 and 4 does something for PL?S, but
I can't make out what it is.)

So 5 and 6 are NOT jumpered, but the controller still wants to see the drive
as 1.5 Gb not 3.0.

Perhaps you and the original poster should learn how to use google?
http://www.google.com/search?q=WD7500AAKS+"jumper settings"+site:www.wdc.com

Here's a better one (1536x2048):
http://i.piccy.kiev.ua/i2/5a/45/9d3f8c85d2b9d67dc25a053ff679.jpeg
found using Google Pictures in less than a second.

No jumpers installed, apparently.
