Does my HP 3P scanner do a good termination job?

I first got into SCSI when I bought my HP 3p scanner in 1995.

After learning about SCSI termination issues, I have never really trusted my
scanner to properly terminate my external chain. This is because the 3p
comes not with two conventional 50-pin ports, but with a 25 and a 50. So,
when I hook up to the DB50 port, I assume that 25 of the wires are properly
terminted inside the 3p, and that the other 25 are terminated by the
pass-through terminator (which the instructions say is required to be
installed on the DB25 port) which came with the scanner.

Seems like a strange setup. I can't use an active terminator unless I can
find an active pass-thru type. Fortunately, my Adaptec 29160 has no
complaints about any termination problems.

Does anybody know whether the 3p scanner is a safe device to use to
terminate a DB50 SCSI chain?
