At the bottom is a label saying:
ENHANCED PARALLEL TO SCSI CONVERTOR
Model No: Bridge- 777EP FCC ID: JYU-MG93-010
(plus a notification about FCC rules)
I have googled on the descriptions above as well as the chip numbers inside
but came up with nothing except a tiny picture on a website discussing a
parallel port driver for Linux (iirc).
Anyone have this device and can tell what driver (made by) it is using,
know where to find it or can send the driver (W9x) to me?
TIA.
Doing a google usenet search on 777ep, it would appear that your
convertor
might be a remarked Shuttle EPSA 1, which was sold with the old "Reno"
external portable cd-rom drives.
This was the same chipset as what was built into the old "Puma"
removable
cartridge hdd's. I actually tried to use one of them, once upon a time.
Either way, if it is a EPSA 1, it's unlikely that an actual win9x driver
was ever written back then, and the company no longer supports it. But
you
can get the win3.x driver to sort-of work under 95.
Thanks.
You are probably right although I'm totally baffled to how
you came to that conclusion from that particular search.
So to hone my google skills, what am I missing here, please?

So it appears.

So it appears. While checking DriverGuide again, by coincident my
eye fell on a link called "FCC ID Identifier" and this FCC link ac-
tually worked, unlike another link I used previously, and got me to
DoTop Company and to http://www.dotop.com.tw/e_v15_old_driver.htm
Unfortunately no driver for the EPSA(I).

Anyone have EPSA.SYS for me? Reply address works, after conversion.
Thanks.

You could try here...
ftp://ftp.scmmicro.com/connectivity/drivers/
SCM bought Shuttle a long time ago and this seems to be what's left of
the drivers for their product range.

Thanks Trevor.
I did search www.scmmicro.com on 'Shuttle' earlier and didn't find any-
thing there so I didn't really consider to look there further. My mistake.
Unfortunately they too start with the EPSA2, same as with DoTop.
Btw, since you and "ML" are apparently quite familiar with external
devices do any of you also know a device called a "Portable LS-120".
No other specifics, just an anonymous grey folded metal sleeve box
for use with a parallel port with "Portable LS-120" printed on top.
It has a bridgeboard based on a Novega chip NV96C18.

This says it is Epsa2.sys, so may not be any good for you.
This may also be useful info:

Thanks a bunch, Mike.
Took me a while to realize that there were drivers to be had there too:
http://www.spudster.org/Always
Downloaded the floppy archives for the AL-1000E and bingo: EPSA.SYS
And yes, it recognizes the adapter and my SyQuest270 drive.
Unfortunately the Dos driver is not compatible with Windows and forces
compatibility mode on all drives. Oh well.
Thanks again.
