DeskScanII produces a landscape image not portrait

I just purchased DeskScanII for my 4p HP scanjet. I installed it from the CD.
When I call up the scanner from within PaperPort Deluxe, it launches DeskScanII
correctlly and it runs properly. But the resulting document comes out distorted
into a landscape image, rather than portrait. I didn't change anything in
PaperPort, and I checked all the settings in DeskScanII and can't see a problem.
Any thoughts?
