Canon FS4000US - Power light blinking fast, can´t get the scanner to work.

Hello.

I hope someone can help me.

I bought a second hand FS4000US and I´m trying to use it on a Mac running OSX 10.9.2

I installed VueScan, I then plugged the scanner in and turned it on. The light starts blinking slowly, then it makes a noise (I guess it must be the motor testing itsels), but then the light just starts blinking very fast and nothing happens... It just keeps flashing.

Has anyone come across this? I´ve never owned a FS4000US before and so I can´t tell what´s normal and what isn´t.
