I'd say the software install routine needs work but have been very happy with
the scanner ...have had it for about a month and use it mainly for OCR.

I use one. Very cheap.
For it's price, it's a pretty nice and fast scanner.
Just remember it's a 300dpi parallel port scanner.
It does not compete with 600dpi SCSI scanners.
Of course those usually cost more than twice the price.
