Hi all,

although my previous post did not get any response, I still believe that in
such experienced group somebody can help:

When scanning negatives I am getting numerous yellow/brown streaks accross
the image
in various places. The direction of the streaks is along the sweep. This is
mostly pronounced on blue or light grey background (clouds, sky). The
streaks are only one or two pixels wide and there is many of them (I am
scanning at hardware
resolution of 1200 DPI). The problem is so severe that even 4"x6" printouts
have streaks visible.

I tried already this:
-this is not a printer problem I am talking about what I see on the screen
-I am using the newest video driver for windows XP
-moved the negative to verify the streaks are not on the negative itself
-replaced the scanner (the new one is even worse)
-removed/reinstalled the scanner driver including manual registry cleanup
-plugged the power cord in a separate outlet (technical help from Visioneer
suggestion)

Anybody had similar problem?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

thanks,

Tomas

SNIP

This seems to indicate that the scanner is the source, and it sounds like a
hardware calibration issue. If that's the case, then the manufacturer should
solve it.

try cleaning the lamp and the underside of the glass?
check with technical support first because opening up the case will
likely invalidate the warranty. The lamp could be defective.
I cleaned mine long after the warranty had expired. Made no difference.

Tomas, you say this is not a printer problem: are you saying that the
artifacts do not appear in the printed scan?

Yes they do. That is why it is not a printer problem. Any suggestion?
