A few days ago I've bought (secondhand) mentioned printer. At the beginning
printer had problems with printing long docs (aprox over 30 pages) it just
stopped and turned off, then it started to communicate random problems:
paper jam, lack of toner, paper problem or completely freeze after few
hours on stand by.
Then after suggestion found on different group including HP sites I tried to
upgrade firmware. After this operation my HP went dead. Now I cant even turn
it on.
From what I red on different sites it should be formatter but as you can
expect I dont have another one to check it. What do you think about it? What
else can it be?
thanks and regards
Muzzy
Very hard to be sure but if it is completely dead (no fans running and no
lights) the power supply could be the cause. It could also conceivably hyave
caused random errors if one of the rails was not stable. Unfortunately the
power supply is part of the main board (I think?) on this printer so
replacement is expensive. Maybe buying another one of these second hand could
yield a good printer???

Thank for reply, but with high probability it is not a power supply. First
of all the whole printer powers up. Funs are running, printer respond to
single paper tray and toner front opening (it makes the whole "buzz" noises
after closing") Second: It starts the six leds start up sequence but it
stops on second one and goes back to blinking on first one (paper jam). And
the last thing, the power supply is not the part of the main board. Its on
the other side of printer. I have already dismantle the formatter and its
size of typical PCI card. It's just a piece of electronical board with USB,
RJ45, memory slot, and some chip on it. That's why I count on quite cheap
replacement.

OK, in that case the formatter or main board are the likely cause.
Have you done an engine test? Remove left cover, bottom right of formatter is a
small push button. Does that work reliably every time, it should print a series
of lines? If it does then the formatter is most likely.
Good luck
Looks like you got what you paid for.
...and this brilliant comment meant ...what?
Actually I shouldn't be complaining. Stupid comments are small price to pay
for open society.
Looks like you were rubbing Da Baboon with Da Lambchop, when you posted
