I was refilling a black ink cartridge (for Epson printer) and got black
ink on my fingers. I thought , no problem, I read to clean print heads
you use water, or alchol, or Windex. NOT!!!!
None of them work. How can you clean a clogged print head with something
that won't even take a black smear off your finger?

What should I use to get this off? Can I use it to clean the clogged
cartridge also ?

the alcohol or windex will get the ink off your printer as this product
had smooth surfaces, but you hands dont, they absorbe the ink.
this is what i do when staining furniture, should work for ink also.
i take some small margerine dishes, or you can use some big cups.
pour some bleech about 2 inches into the cups and then put your finger
tips down into the bleech for about 5 minutes. it will eat off the
dead skin on the fingertips, thats what the ink is in, look at your
hands under a microscope, you will see a very rough surface, thats the
dead skin, that is what the ink is into.

Windex combined with a scrub pad works pretty well for me, removing
most of the stain.

Lava soap works pretty well.

In response to Dan:

You can use water to get blood off of metal parts readily, but getting
dried blood out of cotton with water is almost impossible.

Therefore, the solvent for situation "A" isn't really the solvent for
situation "B".

Flawed logic shows up all the time.

Just wait.

this is what i use to get stain off my hands when doing wood staining,
black walnut. the stain along with ink will stay in the dead skin on
your hands and around your finger nails. I will try to get as much of
it off with paint thiner as possible, but around the dead skin by the
finger nails it will not move. Take some bleech and put in small
plastic bowls like the margerine comes in. and sit your fingertips in it
for about 5 minutes. it will start to burn a little, then its about time
to take your finges out as it will probably be clean of the ink.
as far as the cart. is concerned??? have no idea.....
but the bleech does work on ink, remember had it all over my hands when
refilling a cart. years ago. just a mess, will not mess with that again.

The best solution is not to get ink on the fingers in the first place.
I use surgical gloves that are sold at the drug store. Only a few
pennies each and they can be reused several times. The ink washes off
the glove very easily.

FYI,
you can get a hand dye remover called REDURAN...
check it out at http://www.stockhausen-inc.com/
under "skin care".

I used it years ago and it's very effective.
