Banding appears in both black & white and color prints in the direction
of the head scan with a period of about 2mm. I have cleaned everything
according to the HP manuals several with no improvement. I have replaced
the black cartridge but not the color. Is there anything to be done?
Thanks

Did you align the cartridges? You could carefully clean the contacts on the
printhead that connect with the cartridge with alchol. I would say it's more
likely to be a problem on the black rather than the colour. Black is used in
colour printing and if this is missing a few pens it will leave a regular
gap, ie banding. Print two verticle black bars and see what the result is.

I had a problem with a printer where some of the pens were missing and
repeated cleaning of the contacts eventually brought them back.
