I have a 2-year old Z52 that's worked fine until today, when the black
ink ran out. I got a new cartridge but I can't install it for some
reason. Normally all I have to do is lift the lid and the carrier
slides over, allowing me to swap the new cartridge in. However, when I
lift the lid now it just sits there and does nothing. Any help would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cheat by the following,

With the power off, lift the lid and grab hold of the printhead carrier
and gently pull it to the left as far as where one normally changes the
cartridge. Replace the cartridge and then push it back, then go through
the rest of the cartridge changing routine.

I didn't think that the Z52 had a switch on the cartridge changing
cover, I thought that that was all done by the service utility on your
computer?
