1. open the Printers and Faxes folder
2. delete all instances of the Lexmark printer
3. restart the Print Spooler (Computer Management, Services and
Applications, Services)
4. in the Printers and Faxes folder, click File, Server Properties
5. select the Drivers tab
6. Remove the driver
7. restart the Print Spooler again
Then you should be able to add the printer and use the "old" driver.

Oh really? Have you tried it? Here, and I suspect on any XP user's
sytem, printers do not appear in the Device list.
