Has anyone out there used the Citizen PN50 or PN60 printers?
I saw one in a local store and it didn't look too sturdy, but it
wasn't plugged into anything so I couldn't try it out.

The call it a "thermal fusion" printer, whatever that means.
They claim 360 dpi, and it uses a tiny little ribbon lasts about
30 pages.

I have used the Citizen notebook printer II unit. Works okay, the
ribbons are hard to find. These are okay for intermittant very portable
printing, but I wouldn't use one as my main unit. The cost per page is
high. The quality of print is good but the units are slow. The PN 60
is very small..

You can buy referb units from DAMARK for 175 dollars or so.

Check out the Pentax PocketJet Portable Printer. Much more rugged, less
expensive price per page. Comes with everything you need in the box; Printer,
Battery, Dual Voltage AC Adapter, Parallel Printer Cable, Carrying Case and
a starter box of paper. Thats right High quality 20# bond thermal paper that you
can write on with a ball point pen, pencil crayon and even use a hi-liter on and
won't fade for five (yes five) years. This is a whole new technology in thermal
printing (not at all like the old style fax paper you are thinking of). We had this
paper specially engineered for us, and yes it lays flat on a table. And best of all
your cost per page will be only eight (yes eight) cents per page. In our and
independent testing we found the Citizen to cost between eleven (11) to fifty two
(52) cents per page when you factored in the cost of their ribbons. Our printer is
also much more rugged than the Citizen. My personal unit has been dropped from
the top of a Ford Escort, many table tops and from chest height by a NBC news
correspondent (Roger O'Niel he is about 6'2"). Try that with any Citizen printer.
Also when you buy the unit and send in the warranty reg. card you are enrolled in
our hot-swap program for a year. If you have any problems with the printer, you
call us and we Fed-X a printer to you the next (ususally the same) day.

gee do I sound a little proud of the unit?? I should It's really cool and we keep
winning design awards with it. By the way Notebook Supply Warehouse has great
pricing on the units as does Shire Systems.
