Does anyone have experience with these? What is cost to get the ink
drum refilled? What type of engine does it use? Any costs per sheet
vs HP and some of othe laser makers.

I am looking at the Model ML1210 which lists at 12ppm, 8MB CDI, 600 x
600 dpi at Can$400 (US$260). Price seems GOOD for the features.
They also list 2 other models: ML 250 & the ML 220M. They are MORE
expensive, worth the extra????

Comments?

Thanks.

I am not sure about the Canadian price, but the U.S. price seems high.
I believe the SRP for the ML1210 is only US$199 (just confirmed -
CompUSA sells it for $199). The Lexmark E210 - same print engine,
case and made on the same assembly line - can be had for as low as
US$129 using a $30 Staples rebate and a $40 Staples coupon code
(currently the $30 rebate is not available, but it seems to come and
go). The main difference is that the Lexmark has 4MB RAM the Samsung
has 8MB RAM.

A previous post mentioned that these two printers use a Fuji/Xerox
engine. I don't know which one, whether it is good/bad, or even if it
is true.

Lexmark's 3,000 page replacement drum/toner cartridge has a SRP of
$79.99 - not sure about the Samsung. This would make it slightly more
expensive than the HP LJ1200 ($60 cartridge good for 2500 pages =
$0.024/page v. $0.027 for the Lexmark, but you would need a lot of
volume to cover the initial cost difference).

My only concern at the time of purchase was the top feed. However
other posts, and my experience to date, indicate that the concern was
misplaced.

I have been *very* happy with the print quality - both graphics and
text. It has been a marked improvement over my HP 5L. However, this
past weekend the printer died. Lexmark was allegedly sending a new
one to replace it but it didn't arrive as scheduled. I am still
waiting. Other than that, my experience is that Lexmark's support
deserve's their good reputation.

Now I am confused. I asked about the Samsung lasers. Are you talking
about Lexmark or Samsung? Are you saying they are 100% the same?

Thanx.

Sorry about the confusion. My understanding is that they are 99% the
same - the only difference is that the Lexmark has 4MB RAM and the
Samsung 8MB. All of my experience is with the Lexmark so the usual
YMMV/FWIW apply. www.cnet.com has a review of the Samsung you might
want to look at.
