I,ve got a few older hp4 printers with jetdirect cards.
who can tell me how to upgrade the firmware of these
olders jetdirect cards. i used the hp tool under tcp/ip
but it won,t work. i want to upgrade to firmware 05.05
or higher. Seems to have to something with accessing them
under ipx, but how to do that.

I have done this before using the tools I downloaded from HP web site I
believe the program is called a HP dowmload manager and you can probable
find it on HP's web site if they haven't removed it yet. Since XP has come
out some items have been phased out on there web site. I believe they may
be another program using a web like interface that may also be available.
When i did this a while ago on my 98SE machine I could only upgrade some the
the 2550/2 cards to 5.50 one would only goto the earlier version.
Since Switching to XP I have been reading on HP website that those type of
devices will no longer work on XP and HP will no longer be supporting them
( just beware)
If you can't find the files let me know I am still nursing thjis XP
machine back to life and the files I had are "somewhere" and once I can link
to my other machine via a network I might be able to find them but they may
still be on the HP web site.

Good Luck Stu
